A Wokano customer allegedly attacked an employee because it took too long to prepare his food

CCTV footage showed an angry customer mercilessly beating a Wokano employee – all over some food.

Employee Kevin Oxlaj, who has been working at this location for two years, says that the pain from that night is still very much present.

“My whole chest, my arms, my legs, my whole back of my neck to the point where… I can’t really move that much,” he said. “I can’t turn.”

Oxlaj said it all started when a customer got angry because his order was taking too long. The man then yelled at an employee who was pregnant. After ordering the customer to calm down, Oxlaj said the man began punching him repeatedly until another customer pulled him away.

“He didn’t want to let me go at all,” Oxlaj said. “I felt like he just wanted to drag me out of the restaurant and finish me outside.”

Oxlaj’s mother, Isabel Hernandez, said she also felt the stress and horror of that night.

“If he had taken him outside, I don’t know what would have happened,” she said in Spanish.

Hernandez said the man returned to the restaurant several times that day, looking for her son and asking where he was.

“I don’t feel well,” she said in Spanish. “My son is going back to work anyway? What if he waits? What if he watches? I am very scared and I beg the authorities: arrest him to feel safer or give him a restraining order so he can do that. ” I can’t get close to my son.”

If the alleged attacker remains free, the family said he could do the same to others.

“I honestly want to press charges for assault because what he did to me is not fair,” Oxlaj said. ‘I hope he ends up behind bars. I hope he doesn’t do this to anyone else, because what he did to me shouldn’t have happened – shouldn’t have happened. He shouldn’t have expressed his anger just for ordering food.”

The family has not heard from the police since filing the police report on Monday. Los Angeles police said the incident remains under investigation.
