Aaron Rodgers on the criticism of Mike Williams: We all have to live up to a standard

After Monday night’s loss to the Bills, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Mike Williams running the wrong route caused the crucial interception late in the fourth quarter. Today, Rodgers said he won’t hesitate to criticize anyone, whether it’s Williams or himself.

Asked about his comments about Williams on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said he was simply answering a question honestly when he explained that Williams wasn’t where he was supposed to be when Rodgers threw an interception in his direction.

“If you look at my press conferences, I think I started with myself when I made mistakes,” Rodgers said. “That’s the standard for everyone. There were a lot of mistakes made all night, but if you just look at that play, that’s the question: What happened on that play? It was two vertical lines on the right side and Mike I had to getting to the red line, which would have been a big win. So I didn’t call Mike out for anything other than his responsibility and the details of that game. I have a lot of love and respect for Mike. Nice stuff for us. He wasn’t on that play in the right place. You can make more of that if you want, but we all have to live up to a standard, and if that’s the case ‘I haven’t been there – which has not been the case at certain times – I have risen. and said: ‘I have to play better tonight.’ Hopefully it’s an example for everyone else to start with themselves. But that question was what happened in the last game, I said what happened in the last game.”

With the Jets looking for a move from WilliamsRodgers probably won’t have to worry about taking the wrong route for much longer.
