One of the greatest professional quarterbacks in NFL history has not turned out to be a very good amateur GM. That could have Jets fans concerned about Aaron Rodgers’ assessment of rookie receiver Malachi Corley.
Via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, Rodgers named his third-round pick “my favorite receiver in the draft” during a recent interview with the Official Jets Podcast.
Corley, from Western Kentucky, was the 12th recipient selected last month.
“Now he might not have been the best in the draft on paper,” Rodgers added, “but I really felt like he would fit what we’re trying to do: his mentality, his ferocity.”
The Jets traded up to get Corley. Based on Rodgers’ track record in personnel matters, Jets fans may hope that the front office’s affinity for Corley was a coincidence.
