A fire ripped through an abandoned home in Vallejo overnight, damaging a neighboring home and leaving a family inside that home displaced.
The Vallejo Fire Department said the fire was reported in the 700 block of Alameda Street around 2:30 a.m., with the caller claiming the house was completely engulfed in flames through the roof.

The firefighters who arrived recognized the house as abandoned and undertook a defensive attack to protest the two neighboring houses. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes, but not before damaging the neighboring house to the north, fire officials said.
Seven people in the damaged home have been displaced and are staying with relatives, fire officials said. The other adjacent home suffered minor damage from the fire.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated and released, the department said. Units were still on scene and Alameda Street was still closed as of 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
