Activist taken away in handcuffs after confrontation with Andrew Holmes at Dolton board meeting

CHICAGO (CBS) — On Monday evening, a person was led away in handcuffs after a board meeting in Dolton.

This comes almost a month after another cchaotic village council meeting.

Clash with Andrew Holmes

During Monday night’s meeting, activist Jedidiah Brown walked off the stage toward village administrator Andrew Holmes. An officer pushed Brown away while Holmes was stopped from walking toward him.

Brown was eventually removed from the meeting by officers.

A former Dolton employee has filed a civil lawsuit alleging that Holmes sexually abused her during a village conference in Las Vegas last May. He has not been charged.

Following the accusation, Holmes was fired from the nonprofit Chicago Survivors, which advocates for crime victims.

Firefighters union contract

Members of Local 3766, the firefighters’ union, also spoke out at Monday night’s meeting.

“Since 2020, the village has chosen not to enter into a contract and has refused to negotiate with us,” said Adam Farej, president of Local 3766. “They have ignored our requests to reach an agreement and resolve the current situation within the fire department.”

The union also alleged that money withheld from their salaries was not put into their pension funds. They also added that their health insurance premiums were not paid by the village, leading to claims being denied or collections being sent.

Update on Lori Lightfoot’s research

The meeting also provided an update on former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s investigation into Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard.

Light-footed agreed in April to investigate allegations that Henyard misused government funds. After Lightfoot attempted to speak from the crowd at the June village council meeting, quickly started to become chaotic.

Lightfoot wrote in an email read during Monday night’s meeting that she is making “continued progress” in investigating allegations that Henyard misused village funds.

Henyard has repeatedly denied these claims.

The FBI is conducting an investigation at Dolton Village Hall, although it has not been revealed who is being investigated.
