Adair County brothers face federal meth charges after arrest in Pulaski

Oct. 1 – A pair of Adair County brothers arrested after allegedly bringing drugs to the Pulaski area are now facing federal charges.

Frederick L. Ennis, 37, and Diontae M. Ennis, 35, both of Columbia, have been charged in U.S. District Court with conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine, and distribution of 500 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine. Methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine.

An indictment was returned by a federal grand jury last Thursday.

The indictment states that counts two and three occurred in Pulaski County, while count one occurred between Fayette County and Pulaski County.

If both men are found guilty, they face sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison.

The men were taken into custody in September following a multi-agency investigation, including the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, Columbia (Ky.) Police Department, Lexington Police Department and Kentucky State Police.

A PCSO report stated that PCSO was monitoring the two when the brothers were seen traveling north on I-75.

Additional agencies then joined the surveillance, with the brothers seen heading to Lexington.

While in Lexington, the Lexington Police Air Support Unit tracked the brothers. They were seen briefly encountering a vehicle in a parking lot before being sighted returning to I-75 and traveling south.

When the vehicle returned to Pulaski County, the KSP Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The vehicle was stopped on Ky. 461, where KSP deployed a K-9 to sniff out the vehicle in open air. After the free air sniff, a search of the vehicle was conducted. According to the sheriff’s office, a bag in the trunk of the vehicle contained two large bags of suspected methamphetamine.

One bag reportedly weighed 459.5 grams, while the other reportedly weighed 458.4 grams.

A field test on the substance in the bags showed a positive reaction for the presence of methamphetamine, PCSO said.

The two remain in custody at the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Readers are reminded that a charge is merely an accusation and that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
