There are two lasting images from the end of the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. The first is Nick Taylor’s reaction after sinking a 70-foot putt to top-seeded Tommy Fleetwood in a play-off to win the tournament.

The other came moments after Taylor’s putt fell.

Hadwin, along with compatriots Mike Weir and Corey Conners, had been watching from the fourth playoff hole at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto. After Taylor’s putt dropped, the Canucks rushed to the green to celebrate as Hadwin sprayed champagne. A security guard saw Hadwin and knocked him to the ground.

Almost a year later, the RBC Canadian Open takes place this week at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Also back for the 2024 event? Hadwin and that same guard.

The security guard, who did not want to use his real name, spoke to TSN’s Bob Weeks this week about the incident.

Mr.

“I was sitting on the other side of Nick and his caddy,” Mr. There were a lot of people moving and I saw this person coming straight towards Nick. I saw it like it was in slow motion, this guy coming up to Nick with a bottle and no credentials.

“It was a soft attack,” Mr. “His feet never left the ground.”

After being quickly informed by Taylor’s caddy that the person he had just downed was Hadwin, Mr. Mr.

With Hadwin participating in this week’s tournament, he got the chance to see Mr.

“I rolled down my window,” Hadwin said. “As soon as he recognized me, we both had big smiles on our faces. I’ve said this from the beginning. I wasn’t injured, I didn’t suffer any consequences. I certainly don’t blame him; it was just one of those incidents. We shook hands, laughed a bit and I let him pose for a picture with me.”

Hadwin finished the second round on Friday two over par, outside the expected (even) line to make it to the weekend.
