After a few days of calm weather, rain storms are in the forecast for Kansas City

Sunny and mostly clear skies will prevail in the Kansas City area over the next few days before storms threaten to cause a soggy start to the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

“Quiet weather until Thursday,” says the weather service on X, formerly Twitter. “Autumn-like conditions also in store.”

Temperatures will be around 59 degrees on Wednesday and 57 degrees on Thursday, which is typical for Kansas City this time of year.

The rain will return next weekend

Showers and possibly a few thunderstorms return to the Kansas City area on Friday.

Rain chances increase throughout the day Friday, starting at around 25% in the morning and growing to 30% by the evening. Overnight they rise to about 75% on Saturday morning. The showers will gradually end around noon.

The weather service said precipitation totals will be between 0.25 inches and one inch in most cases.

“The weekend will end dry,” the weather service said.
