After nine years, the Kansas City store is closing this weekend. Everything is 40% off

Mid Coast Modern is closing in Westport.

The last official day for the gift shop at 314 Westport Road was Friday, although an employee said owner Matt Bramlette may keep the store open this weekend to continue the 40% off closing sale.

Mid Coast Modern opened in 2015, carrying home goods, clothing, jewelry, artwork, candles and other gifts. Bramlette also owns Bear Soap Co., a line that sells bar soaps, bath bombs, beard oil and body wash.

He told Startland News that he plans to launch Bear Soap Co. in California, where he will move in a few months.

There were still plenty of gift vouchers, candles and T-shirts for sale on Friday afternoon. The front window was covered in plywood, the result of a fatal shooting outside the business last Sunday morning.

“Continue to support locals and keep small businesses alive,” the store wrote on its Instagram page. “It’s where the personality of a city lives.”
