Police responded to Circle K at 4300 Osuna Road after receiving reports of a man yelling at two people over a PA system and pointing a gun at them on January 24, 2024. The men heard a PA system after leaving the store and thought it was the store’s system. According to the complaint, the men noticed yelling coming from a truck parked in front of the store and it was flashing its lights at them. The complaint goes on to say that the men then saw the man in the truck yelling at them, threatening to “take their souls” and pointing a gun at them.

When officers arrived later, the lapel video showed Borrecco sitting in the driver’s seat of the truck. Officers in the lapel asked Borrecco at least twice if he had a weapon, and each time Borrecco said no. The officer questioning Borrecco then saw what appeared to be a police vest on the passenger seat, and the video shows Borrecco telling the officer that he works for BCSO and claiming that he has been with the sheriff’s office for at least 15 years.

The video later shows the officer looking inside the truck from outside and seeing the vest and a gun. The vehicle was towed and a search warrant was served, according to the complaint. The complaint said that after the search warrant was served, detectives found two empty 4-ounce bottles of vodka in the center console and 17 open and empty vodka bottles of a similar size in the back.

Borrecco is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and negligent use of a deadly weapon. He was placed on administrative leave from BCSO following his arrest.
