Alhambra Police warns of fake parking tickets

Dozens of people were outraged when they discovered they had recently received fake parking tickets in Alhambra.

Alhambra police posted a message on Instagram warning people about the scam.

They ask people who receive a parking ticket within city limits to stop and take a close look at the ticket, as scammers will post the ticket on the windshield of their cars.

The fake tickets have a QR code, while the real tickets do not have a QR code, but instead refer to the city’s website, www.cityofalhambra.org, to pay.

According to police, the QR codes on the fake tickets lead unsuspecting offenders to either go to a fraudulent website to pay or download malware that steals their personal information.

Anyone who receives a counterfeit ticket is asked to report it to the Alhambra PD Traffic Division at (626) 570-5119.
