TRUCKEE – Chain checks will be in effect on all Sierra Nevada highways Friday morning as more snow arrives in the region.

A series of storms have passed through Northern California in recent days.

Precipitation totals haven’t been spectacular for the Central Valley, but the high country is still showing winter-like effects.

Chain controls will be in effect on both major highways, Interstate 80 and Highway 50, starting at 7 a.m. Chains are required along I-80 from Nyack to Truckee eastbound, and from Donner Lake to Nyack westbound.

On Highway 50, chains are required from Kyburz to Meyers.
