AMD chief Lisa Su foresees huge gains in AI and data center efficiency

Advanced Microdevices, Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) CEO Lisa Su highlighted the chip designer’s progress toward its 30×25 goal, targeting a 30x increase in compute node energy efficiency by 2025 and now projecting a potential 100x improvement between 2026 and 2027 during a recent event.

Su highlighted AMD’s foresight in addressing AI power consumption issues since 2021, focusing on improving the energy efficiency of data centers. She noted that the explosion of generative AI models such as ChatGPT had increased concerns about AI’s thirst for power, Tom’s Hardware reports.
