Amtrak’s Berkshire Flyer returns this summer with stops in the lower Hudson Valley

Amtrak’s Berkshire Flyer returns this summer, offering weekend trips between New York City and the Berkshires with stops in the lower Hudson Valley.

The service, which debuted in 2022, will run until Labor Day weekend.

Trains will depart Manhattan’s Moynihan Train Hall on Friday at 3:16 p.m. and arrive at the Joseph Scelsi Intermodal Transportation Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, at 7:27 p.m.

The Flyer stops at the same stations as Amtrak’s Empire Service: at Yonkers, Croton-Harmon, Poughkeepsie, Rhinecliff, Hudson and Albany-Rensselaer Station.

Sunday trains leave Pittsfield at 3:35 PM and arrive in New York at 7:55 PM

In addition, on Sundays a train leaves Manhattan at 10:50 AM and arrives in Pittsfield at 3:15 PM

Prices vary depending on the weekend and how far in advance tickets are purchased. A one-way ticket from Manhattan to Pittsfield this Friday costs $91, while the same ticket on July 12 currently costs $59.

Amtrak is urging passengers to purchase tickets in advance. To purchase tickets, visit Amtrak.com.

The service is sponsored by State Transportation from New York and Massachusetts.

“Whether it’s a weekend getaway or an extended vacation, the Berkshire Flyer experience offers travelers and adventure seekers a convenient and eco-friendly way to discover the beauty and charm of the Berkshires and Upstate New York,” said Marie Therese Dominguez, the commissioner from the state Department of Transportation.

Amtrak’s New York passenger count of 12.3 million last jear exceeded pre-pandemic levels, with the biggest gains on the Empire South route from New York City to Albany.
