Crews arrived to find that the plane, which appeared to have overturned in the incident, was not on fire.

Despite initial reports from firefighters claiming two people were taken to hospital, Sling Pilot Academy CEO Matt Liknaitzky says no one on the ground or in the plane was injured.

SkyCal flew over the crash site, where the plane could be seen under a large tree. It was overturned and appeared to have sustained damage to both wings and tailplane.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.

“A single-engine Sling LSA crashed in Carson, California on Sunday, December 22 at approximately 3:45 PM local time,” an FAA statement said. “There were two people on board. The FAA will investigate.”
