Anderson shares photos of himself wearing Warriors jersey as a kid, originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Kyle Anderson’s arrival in the Bay Area was an event he had been preparing for his entire life.

On Thursday, the 30-year-old forward, who will reportedly sign a three-year, $27 million contract with Golden State, shared photos of himself as a child wearing a retro Warriors jersey with number 23 (presumably Jason Richardson).

In his posts, which were originally shared on Instagram, Anderson captioned one of the two photos “it was written,” indicating he was destined to play with the Warriors.

Anderson, a former No. 30 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, joins the Warriors as part of a sign-and-trade deal that will send a future swap of a second-round pick and draft capital to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

During the 2023-24 NBA season, Anderson averaged 6.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 79 games played for the Timberwolves.

Anderson is entering his 11th professional season and is expected to play a role in Steve Kerr’s team, which will be without Klay Thompson for the first time since 2011.

Anderson arrives at Golden State with ambitions of vying for the hoop once again under the guidance of superstars like guard Stephen Curry and forward Draymond Green, but he’s certainly at the end of a historic NBA dynasty.

So if Anderson, who may have grown up as a Warriors fan, can channel his inner child and show Dub Nation what he can do when it matters most — and maybe check off another item on the Warriors bucket list.
