Are you going to Railbird this weekend? Festival goers should prepare for wet weather

This weekend is the Railbird Music Festival in Lexington and there is a chance of showers every night of the festival, so concertgoers should prepare accordingly.

There is a 40% chance of rain on Saturday afternoon after 2 p.m., followed by cloudy weather and wind, the National Weather Service said. There is an 80% chance of thunderstorms after 8pm on Saturday night, with a quarter to half an inch of rain expected.

There is a 50% chance of showers all day on Sunday and a chance of thunder before 8pm on Sunday evening.

Despite the chance of rain, Railbird visitors will experience warm weather in the afternoon, with high temperatures ranging from 77-79 degrees per day, according to the NWS.

Umbrellas are strictly prohibited at the festival as outlined in the Railbird guidelines, but guests can bring raincoats or ponchos to the venue. There are also shaded areas and tents located throughout the site that provide protection from the rain.

“In addition, we will use a tent structure for one of the three stages which we will extend beyond the viewing area to create even more shade,” Railbird guidelines state.
