Arkansas Storm Team Weather Blog: Three-Day Severe Weather Threat!

Our summer-like weather will return to spring-like as Arkansas is in the bull’s-eye of a multi-day severe thunderstorm threat.

The Storm Prediction Center has exposed Arkansas to a severe weather risk three days in a row this week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, parts or most of the state will have a severe weather threat of at least a level 2 out of 5.

The threat will focus on Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday and will arrive overnight Wednesday morning. Those same storms will threaten central Arkansas Wednesday afternoon and evening. Finally, forecast models show another complex of thunderstorms hitting the state Thursday afternoon and evening.

Below you will find the latest timings.

The exact timing of all of these thunderstorm opportunities is extremely difficult to determine, so check back here for updates. More accurate timing will be available once high-resolution model data is available.

Just like the exact timing, the threats are also difficult to predict over a number of days. There appears to be an abundance of storm fuel with less wind shear. This means the biggest threat will likely be hail and damaging straight-line winds, with a lower tornado threat. As always at this time of year, a tornado cannot be ruled out.
