Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officers are involved in a standoff with an armed suspect in Compton.
The barricade began around 5 p.m. when a man reportedly carrying a weapon barricaded himself in a home in the 1400 block of 131st Street, LASD said.
Detectives from the Homicide Bureau were already on the scene when the department sent their Special Enforcement Bureau and Crisis Negotiation Team to the scene.
The circumstances that led to the confrontation are still unknown.
Several homes in the area have been evacuated to ensure the safety of residents, officers said.
