Auburn man dies after crashing motorcycle into two cars near Lakewood, troopers say

A 25-year-old man died Saturday evening after crashing his motorcycle on northbound Interstate 5 in the Lakewood area, the Washington State Patrol said.

The Auburn man died at the scene of the wreck. Two other people, a driver and passenger, involved in the crash were treated at the scene for their injuries, troopers said.

At around 7:20 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling north on I-5 in the Lakewood/South Tacoma area. Officers said he was traveling too fast for the conditions.

The man then attempted to change lanes and struck a second vehicle, State Patrol said. The motorcycle then veered into another lane and struck a third vehicle, troopers said.

The motorcycle and the second vehicle came to a stop on the left shoulder. The third vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder about a quarter mile north of the crash.

Traffic in the area was blocked for more than three hours, state police said.
