WAUSAU − The Miss Wausau Area Scholarship Organization has two new representatives. Avery Manthe was crowned Miss Wausau Area 2025 and Anna Jacobson was named Miss Wausau Area’s Teen 2025, according to the organization’s Facebook page.
Eight young women took the stage Saturday afternoon at the UW Center for Civic Engagement to highlight their initiatives in community service, talents and communication skills. Both the Miss Wausau Area and Miss Wausau Area Teen contestants competed in five phases: private interview, talent, evening gown, health and fitness and an on-stage conversation.
Manthe, a student at Marshfield High School, performed a HERStory piece because of her talent. Her community service initiative is called “Voter Turnout Advocacy.”
Jacobson, a student at DC Everest Senior High School, sang for her talent. Her community service initiative is about offering healthy breakfasts to teens.
Manthe and Jacobson will represent the area next year as the organization’s title holders.
They will compete in Miss Wisconsin in June. Miss Wisconsin and Miss Wisconsin’s Teen will then compete at Miss America and Miss America’s Teen.
The Miss Wausau Area Scholarship Competition is open to females between the ages of 18 and 27, while Miss Wausau Area Teen competitors must be between the ages of 14 and 18. Participants for both age categories must live, work or attend school in Marathon, Taylor. , Clark, Portage or Lincoln counties.
