Vote recounts are scheduled for Tuesday for two close races in Ramsey County.
The races for Arden Hills City Council and District 7 county commissioner were both eligible for a publicly funded recount and were requested by candidates, according to the county.
In the District 7 race, Kelly Miller leads Sarah K. Yang by 28 votes.
In Arden Hills, where the top two vote-getters go to the City Council, Brenda J. Holden won a seat with 2,561 votes. The recount will take place between Kurt Weber, who has 2,045 votes, and David Radziej, with 2,040.
Under state law, a candidate for county, municipal or school district office may request a federally funded recount if he or she lost by less than 0.5% of the total votes, if more than 400 but fewer than 50,000 votes favor that office have been released.
The recount for the county executive race is estimated to cost $5,000 to $7,000, county spokesman Casper Hill said earlier this month.
The recounts are open to the public and will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at 90 W. Plato Blvd in St. Paul. The recounts will take place simultaneously and the results and any disputed ballots will be submitted to their respective committees. The candidate who requested a recount, or his representative, may provide the basis for the recount. The board then decides on the disputed ballots, which are included in the investigative report, and certifies the results of the recount.
