FARIBAULT COUNTY, Minnesota. — Some ballots in Faribault County misidentified the parties for candidates in the race for state representative District 23A, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office.

In a statement on Friday, incumbent Republican Rep. Peggy Bennett said she learned from a supporter that her Democratic opponent, Joe Staloch, was being labeled a Republican.

According to the secretary’s office, district officials discovered the error Friday and are “pursuing corrective action through the courts.”

The error is limited to ballots issued by Faribault County. According to the clerk’s office, ballots issued by Freeborn, Steele and Waseca Counties correctly list the candidates’ parties.
