HILLSDALE – Three Battle Creek teenagers who burglarized and burglarized a marijuana dispensary in Camden on Jan. 31 have been sentenced to nominal probation and fines under the Home Youthful Training Act.

Dontay Dequan Banks, 19, Milton Tyier Hudson, 18, and Jeramiah Javon Smith, 18, all appeared in 1st Judicial Circuit Court on Monday, June 10, for sentencing after pleading guilty to breaking and entering a building with the intent to steal to be committed in April 8.

The plea deal that led to the convictions dismissed more serious crimes such as conspiracy to commit burglary, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing/eluding police in the third degree and resisting arrest.

A fourth man involved in the incident – ​​Treshaun Omeirr Boykins, 23 years old – is tentatively scheduled for a continued criminal conference on July 1 at 1 p.m., ahead of a jury trial in September on all five charges. Authorities believe Boykins was the getaway driver.

According to a police report, Michigan State Police responded to an alarm at a commercial building in Camden at The Pinnacle Emporium at 421 S. Main St. at dusk on Jan. 31 and arrived to find the four men, plus a minor. , sitting in a white 2018 Kia in the parking lot.

The men fled from police who pursued south into Ohio before the pursuit turned west and entered Indiana at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

The pursuit re-entered Michigan in southern Branch County and the men’s vehicle was immobilized by a PIT maneuver just south of Calhoun County.

According to police, all four men fled the vehicle on foot after the PIT maneuver, but were apprehended shortly afterwards. The juvenile was released to his parents while the four men were held at the Branch County Jail before being transported to the Hillsdale County Jail.

Judge Megan Stiverson noted Hillsdale County Court’s new Community Corrections Program during the arraignment and said neither of the men have prior criminal records.
