Dangerously warm conditions with heat index values up to 109 degrees expected for part of North Central Texas from noon today until 7pm tonight.

This warning is in effect until 7 p.m
Ways to stay safe in the heat according to the NWS
• Stay hydrated: Make sure you drink enough.
• Find a cool place to stay: stay in an air-conditioned room.
• Look out for others: stay out of the sun and keep an eye on your family members and neighbors.
• Child and Pet Welfare: Never forget to protect young children and pets by not leaving them unattended in vehicles, especially during scorching weather when the interior of the car can become life-threateningly hot.
• Be careful outdoors: If you work or spend time outdoors, take extra safety precautions.
• Plan your activities wisely: Schedule strenuous activities for the early morning or evening if possible.
• Familiarize yourself with warning signs: Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
• Dress comfortably: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing to stay cool.
To ensure safety while working outdoors, follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommendations by taking regular rest breaks in a shaded or air-conditioned environment. If someone is suffering from heat, immediately move him or her to a cool and shady place. In an emergency, you can call 911.
