CHICAGO (CBS) — Football, friendship and fundraising – that’s how organizers described a watch party Monday night that raised money for Bears legend Steve “Mongo” McMichael.
The Hall-of-Famer is battling ALS. The fundraiser Monday evening is also intended to raise awareness about the disease.
“Giving saves lives, and it helps individuals live the life they have left to the fullest,” said Bruce Herron, former Chicago Bear and McMichael teammate. “So we appreciate anything you can do to help those suffering from ALS.”
This was the sixth Monday Night Live Watch Party. Each game featured a different Bears player, past or present, and raised money for a different charity.
Monday night’s events at Joe’s at Weed Street, 940 W. Weed St., will include a live broadcast of the Monday Night Football game as the Baltimore Ravens take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
