October 16 – BEMIDJI – The
Beltrami County Historical Society
will host a series of workshops with local historian and author Sue Bruns, entitled “Recording Your Personal and Family Histories,” at the Beltrami County History Center, 130 Minnesota Ave. SW.
The workshop is available at three different times: 5:30 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 24 and 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 26.
This free workshop will provide participants with the tools and guidance needed to document and organize the unique stories of their lives and families so that memories are preserved for years to come, according to a release.
Participants will also learn effective storytelling techniques and receive advice on using different formats such as audio, video and written documents, along with tips on preserving essential family documents such as photos and letters.
“Whether you want to record your own experiences, capture the stories of older relatives or start a larger family history project, this workshop provides expert tips and practical strategies to help you get started,” the release said.
