Biden campaign announces million ad campaign aimed at creating contrast with Trump’s hush money conviction

The Biden The campaign announced a $50 million ad investment Monday as part of its efforts to highlight the contrast between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in the days leading up to the first presidential debate in late June.

As part of the $50 million investment, the campaign is releasing a 30-second ad titled “Character Matters,” highlighting the judgments against Trump in both criminal and civil trials.

“He was convicted of 34 crimes, found liable for sexual assault and committed financial fraud,” the narrator says in the ad. “Meanwhile, Joe Biden is in office.”

The campaign said the television ads will appear “in all theaters of war” and on cable TV.

“This election is between a convicted criminal who is only out for himself and a president who fights for your family,” the narrator says.

Biden called Trump a “convicted felon” shortly after the verdict was announced and said it was “troubling” that “a former president who is a convicted felon is now seeking the office of president.”

While the Biden campaign attacks Trump over his conviction, Biden’s son was convicted of three gun-related crimes last week. After Hunter Biden was found guilty, the president called his son “one of the smartest, most decent men I know” and said he was “extremely proud” of him.

Biden and Trump, who remain neck-and-neck in the polls, will face off on June 27. The new ad is consistent with how Biden is expected to emphasize the contrast between him and his predecessor on the debate stage.

The Biden campaign has said he is preparing to “hold Trump accountable for his extreme record” at the debate, saying Biden is “projecting himself as the wise and steadfast leader in contrast to Trump’s chaos and division.” ”

The June paid media campaign includes investments aimed at reaching Black, Latino, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander voters, the campaign said.

The $50 million media announcement follows successful fundraising efforts for the campaign. Over the weekend, it said, the Biden campaign and its allies raised more than $30 million as part of a fundraiser in Los Angeles that included a slew of celebrities.

The Biden campaign ended April with more than $84 million, compared to the Trump campaign’s more than $49 million, according to Federal Election Commission receipts. April is the most recent month for which FEC fundraising data is available.
