Biden tells Trump to ‘get a life, man’ and stop the misinformation

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden publicly warned Donald Trump on Thursday, telling his predecessor to “get a life, man” and try to help people hit by a pair of devastating hurricanes instead of spreading misinformation about the federal response.

Speaking at the White House about the administration’s work to address Hurricanes Milton and Helene, Biden condemned the “reckless, irresponsible and relentless disinformation and outright lies that continue to flow.”

The White House, and Biden personally, have criticized Trump for days for making false claims about disaster relief, including that federal funding is being diverted for illegal use on people in the country and that such aid is limited to $750. The $750 is a payout that is needed immediately, Biden explained, to cover urgent needs such as food, diapers and baby formula

“That $750 they’re talking about, Mr. Trump and all these other people know it’s a lie to suggest that’s all they’re going to get,” Biden said. ‘It’s just bizarre. They have to stop this. They’re so damn un-American in the way they talk about this stuff.”

When asked if he planned to speak to Trump to urge him to quit, Biden said he would not, but followed that with a message delivered directly to television cameras: “Mr. President Trump, former President Trump, get a life, man. Help these people.”

At one point, Biden suggested that first responders trying to save lives have been subjected to “death sentences,” although it was unclear whether he meant to say “death threats.”
