President Joe Biden will travel to the Philadelphia area on Tuesday for a campaign event in support of U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), the White House said.

Biden will be in Milwaukee earlier in the day Tuesday to promote his administration’s work on “replacing lead pipes and creating good-paying jobs.” Details about the campaign event in Pennsylvania were not available Monday.

Biden has been a longtime ally of Casey, a fellow Scranton resident.

Casey endorsed Biden just minutes after he formally announced it his candidacy for president in April 2019.

During Biden’s State of the Union address in March, said the president called “Bobby” Casey and called on Congress to pass Casey’s bill aimed at stopping “shrinkflation,” Casey’s preferred term for driving up corporate prices.

Casey, who is seeking a fourth term in the U.S. Senate, stood by Biden when calls came for him to step aside of the presidential race. On the same day, Biden announced that he would not seek re-election in July. Casey joined Biden in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ bid for the presidency.

Casey’s Republican opponent Dave McCormick often criticized the incumbent president during the campaign for voting with the Biden-Harris administration.

The campaigns did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Although Biden has campaigned from the backbench since relinquishing the top of the ticket, this won’t be the first time he’s campaigned in Pennsylvania since withdrawing. He spent Labor Day with Harris in Pittsburgh promoting her bid for the White House among steelworkers.

Biden’s most recent visit to the state was on September 16 for an official visit to Philadelphia for the 2024 National Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Weekly Conference.

Former President Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s nominee for president, has planned two rallies in Pennsylvania on Wednesdayincluding one in Biden’s hometown of Scranton. Former President Barack Obama will campaign on behalf of the Harris ticket in Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Polls show Trump and Harris in a dead heat for Pennsylvania’s 19 electoral votes, while Casey appears to have a slight lead over McCormick. The Cook Political Report, a national ratings agency, describes this the presidential race in the Keystone State like a toss, while labeling the race between Casey and McCormick as Democratic leans.
