Blackhawks legend Patrick Kane looks like himself again

Many great players have come through the Chicago Blackhawks organization over the years. That said, it’s clear that Patrick Kane is at the top of the list.

Kane is currently playing for the Detroit Red Wings at the age of 36 and is still an incredibly entertaining player. Kane is no longer competing for Hart Trophies, but he can still impact games in a variety of ways.

On Tuesday night, in a big game against the Ottawa Senators with standings implications, Kane scored the overtime winner for Detroit, extending his point streak to five games.

Through those five games, Kane has 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points. After registering just fourteen points in the first thirty games of the season, to say he is back on track would be an understatement. He now has 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 35 games.

Kane can still make smart plays with his creativity, hockey IQ and pure hockey skill. He may not be the youngest man anymore, but he still knows how to fend off defenders, giving him and his teammates more space.

The funny thing is that Detroit has won all five of these games in Kane’s point streak. After a lackluster performance in the early stages of the season, they are back in the full Eastern Conference Wild Card mix.

They’re trying to avoid missing the playoffs for the ninth straight season, which would have sounded crazy in that last playoff year because it extended their postseason streak to 25. Now, with Kane on the team, they try to come back.

Who do the Wings play next after this overtime winner for Kane? The team that drafted him first overall, the Chicago Blackhawks. He will look to extend his points streak to six games against his old team at Little Caesars Arena.

On the other hand, Chicago’s newest star will be looking to extend his streak to nine games. The past meets the present again.

These two teams have already met this season. On November 6, the Red Wings defeated the Hawks 4-1 at United Center. Now Chicago will try to get revenge on an old friend along the way.
