Body of Peachtree City man with dementia found days after wandering from home

The body of a man with dementia who disappeared last weekend was found Friday in Fayette County.

Al Novotnak, 80, was reported missing from his home on Sunday morning, December 22.

Peachtree City police began their sixth day of searching for Novotnak on Friday and found his body near the Lake Kedron reservoir.

Police said it appears Novotnak died due to exposure to cold temperatures the morning he left his home.

Investigators are working with the medical examiner’s office to determine an accurate timeline and cause of death.
