Customers who purchased Clif Bars or Clif Kid ZBars may be eligible for a cash payment following the protein bar company’s recent class action lawsuit.
The company reached a $12 million settlement in the case of Ralph Milan et al. v. Clif Bar & Co., which alleged that the nutritional information on the labels of Clif Bars and Clif Kid ZBars was misleading.
Anyone who purchased the snacks between March 31, 2019 and March 31, 2023 could receive a portion of the settlement. For those who purchased the protein bars in California and New York, their timeline will be extended from April 19, 2014 to March 31, 2023.

De Ralph Milan et al. v. Clif Bar & Co. class action lawsuit, filed in April 2018, alleged that the nutrition labels on Clif Bars and Clif Kid ZBars failed to disclose the high amounts of added sugar in the snacks.
According to the settlement website, the lawsuit mentions Clif Bars and Clif Kid ZBars with the following phrases as examples of the misleading packaging:

“While raising our family, finding nutritious snacks for our children was not easy. That’s why we created Clif Kid: healthy, delicious snacks made with organic ingredients to help kids continue, grow and explore.”

“A mix of carbohydrates, fiber, proteins and fats gives children energy so they can keep digging and zooming.”
Although the protein bars were marketed as healthy, the suit said, as much as 37% of the snacks’ calories come from added sugar.
Clif Bar has denied that its products are unhealthy or that the labels are misleading. The company agreed to the settlement earlier this year. A representative for Clif Bar, or parent company Mondelez International, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The settlement involves customers from across the country who purchased the items. The payout is expected based on the number of bars purchased. No proof of purchase is required.
But if consumers can provide proof with their application, they can receive $15 for the first 60 bars and an additional $0.25 for additional bars, with a maximum payout of $50.

There is a maximum of one declaration form per household.
Name and contact information is required on the first page of the claim. The customer must then provide details of their Clif Bar and Clif Kid ZBars purchases.
