Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston was in trouble after scoring a touchdown on “Thursday Night Football” against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns wanted to go for the 2-point conversion and Winston had something hanging out of the top of his helmet.
First, Winston’s highlight game. He ran for it on fourth down, went airborne and reached the end zone for a huge touchdown when he was hit to give the Browns a 16-6 lead.
The Browns wanted to go for the two-point attempt to take a twelve-point lead. But Winston pointed to something hanging out of the top of his helmet, apparently letting the sideline know that his communications system was down.
Amazon Prime Video sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung explained that what jumped out when Winston hit the ground was the battery for the communications device in his helmet. She said Winston could hear the 2-point play call, although it certainly looked like he was having trouble.
Anyway, Winston found a way to get the job done. He hit David Njoku in the end zone for a successful two-point effort and an 18-6 Browns lead. Cleveland ultimately won the game 24-19.
Thursday evening’s match took a strange turn because the snow fell heavily in the second half. The fact that Winston popped part of his communications device out of his helmet only made it weirder.
