HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – A Bucks County pizzeria owner was sentenced Tuesday for the murder of her old partner at their home in Chalfont two years ago, according to the district attorney’s office.
Anna Maria Tolomello received a state prison sentence of 18 to 40 years after pleading guilty in April to third-degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Tolomello murdered her partner Giovanni Gallina in March 2022 and hid his body in their home for weeks. Tolomello and Gallina owned the restaurant Pina’s Pizza in New Britain, Pennsylvania.
According to Hilltown Township police, Tolomello fatally shot Gallina in the head on March 16, 2022.
Police say Gallina’s son reported him missing after not hearing from his father. Tolomello told him his father was out of town.
When police executed a search warrant at the couple’s home on Limekiln Pike on March 29, 2022, they found Gallina’s body wrapped in a blue tarp in the master bedroom, the district attorney’s office said.
Tolomello pleaded guilty to shooting Gallina, hiding his body for 13 days and disposing of evidence.
The district attorney’s office said there is evidence that Tolomello used gambling apps on her phone within an hour of Gallina’s murder.
An impact statement from Gallina’s family was read in court Tuesday by Common Pleas Judge Gary B. Gilman, calling their father a “hardworking man who was loved by all.”
Gallina’s family also said Tolomello was “motivated by greed,” prosecutors said.
“All his hard work was for his family, his grandchildren and the future,” the letter said. “That legacy was destroyed by someone who only thought about himself.”
