Caitlin Clark asks question again after reporters ignore Aliyah Boston following Indiana Fever loss

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, the Indiana Fever’s dynamic duo, have had each other’s backs all season. That was evident on Thursday night, when Clark tried to draw attention to her teammate in a post-match press conference following the Fever’s 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm.

Clark and Boston took the podium together, but the focus was all on the rookie at first. After the fifth straight question to Clark, she tried to redirect reporters to Boston, who sat quietly staring at the stat sheet in her hands.

“Ask Aliyah a question,” Clark said.

“No, I’m fine with it,” Boston said resignedly, but Clark persisted.

The next reporter then turned the question about the practice to Boston, followed by a few more.

Thursday marked the second and final time this season that Indiana would travel to Seattle to play; the moment was admittedly awkward, but somewhat inevitable, given that Seattle reporters have had just two opportunities to get quotes from Clark this season. Still, the awkwardness eventually passed.

Clark and Boston, the last two No. 1 overall picks, have become a strong duo on the Fever and have praised each other all season. While the rookie has gotten more attention, Clark has often tried to focus on Boston, the reigning Rookie of the Year and a key part of the Fever on both ends of the court.

After Thursday’s loss and a narrow defeat to the Chicago Sky last weekend, Indiana is 7-12 and ninth in the WNBA standings. The Fever will play the 9-8 Phoenix Mercury on Sunday and hope to reverse their slide.
