(Reuters) – Canada’s TD Bank said on Friday it has appointed insider Michelle Myers as its global chief auditor, effective Dec. 9.
The lender was fined $3 billion and faced the rare imposition of an asset limit by U.S. regulators in October for violating a law aimed at preventing money laundering.
Myers, who has been with TD since 2022, will succeed Anita O’Dell, who has decided to retire but will continue in an advisory role until May 31.
O’Dell, who joined TD in 2010, had held a number of positions including Global Chief Auditor, US Chief Auditor and Deputy US Chief Auditor.
Myers, who spent more than a decade at accounting giant KPMG, most recently served as senior vice president, controller and chief accountant at the lender.
In addition, TD has also appointed Keith Lam, currently Deputy Chief US Auditor, as Acting Chief US Auditor.
Lam, who has more than two decades of experience in internal audit, public accounting and technology-related roles, will report jointly to Myers and the U.S. audit committees.
TD CEO Bharat Masrani will also retire next year and will be succeeded by the head of the Canadian banking division, Ray Chun.
