Alex Ovechkin will miss the next four to six weeks due to a broken left fibula, the Washington Capitals announced Thursday.

The Capitals captain and current NHL leading scorer suffered the injury during Monday night’s win over the Utah Hockey Club. Ovechkin collided with Jack McBain and immediately fell to the ice. He tested the leg minutes later with a short skate, but later left the competition and did not return.

This story will be updated.
