The Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Board and its 2024 president, Sue Grove, paid tribute to a past president at the festival’s Community Luncheon.
Staci Gurney, who served as the festival’s president and treasurer for five consecutive years, was honored at the Aug. 3 event.
Gurney was the first president in the festival’s 64-year history to serve for five consecutive years. She served as president from 2019-2023, and festival officials noted her efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic when the event was canceled.
“Her leadership skills have been proven and appreciated by the board and the Alliance community,” board members said in a news release.
Gurney remained on the board this year as chairman and was also treasurer again.
