Casa Grande police are asking the public for help in locating suspects in the arson of a Catholic church

Casa Grande police are asking for the public’s help in locating an arson suspect who officials say set fire to a Catholic church in late October.

On Saturday, Casa Grande police released video of a suspect believed responsible for starting an Oct. 18 fire at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, located near Marshall Street and Second Street.

The suspect is seen wearing a gray hoodie with white lettering on the chest and gray pants.

The fire caused significant damage to the church. Representing the city’s only Catholic place of worship, community members mobilized to support the church as authorities searched for the arson suspect.

“CGPD worked closely with the Casa Grande Fire Department and the ATF to complete this investigation. Detectives believe the person in this video is responsible for the crime,” Casa Grande police wrote on Facebook.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact Detective Alex Teitelbaum, via email at alex_teitelbaum@casagrandeaz.gov, or by phone at 520-421-8711, ext. 6017.
