BOSTON – The duck boats are ready as the city of Boston gets ready to celebrate the 18th championship in Celtics history with a rolling rally in the coming days. However, the details are still being worked on.

When is the Celtics parade?

City of Boston officials plan to meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday to finalize plans for the parade.

Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca told WBZ-TV during the celebration Monday night that details are still being worked out.

“I heard it on Friday. But that’s for the mayor to decide, that’s not for me to decide. We’ll show up when the mayor says it will happen,” Pagliuca said.

Boston Duck Tours posted “Cue the ducks” on social media overnight, with the caption “Who’s ready for a parade?”

Heat wave in Boston affects parade plans

City officials have an added challenge as they plan Boston’s latest championship parade. The Celtics won the title as a likely heat wave was approaching potentially record temperatures in Boston.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its heat risk outlook, with parts of New England categorized in the “extreme” risk area. WBZ-TV executive weather producer Terry Eliasen called this “very rare” for the region.

Temperatures in Boston are expected to be around 90 degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The Celtics’ road to the NBA title

The Celtics earned the duck boat parade thanks to a dominant performance throughout the postseason that continued into the NBA Finals.

Boston stormed out to a 3-0 series lead. Dallas pulled off a dominant Game 4 win to send the series back to Boston. But Monday night at TD Garden, the Celtics put an end to business, breaking the tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most team NBA titles in history.

Jaylen Brown received the award Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player reward after the match.
