A Waynesboro man was unhappy about his possible admission to WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital and admitted to threatening a doctor with various forms of violence, according to Chambersburg police.

Magisterial District Judge Glenn Manns denied bail for Ashley Eugene Murdorf, 47, on Wednesday morning, saying there were no bail conditions that would ensure the victim’s safety, according to court records.

Murdorf is charged with making terroristic threats, a misdemeanor, according to court records.

After being taken to the hospital for evaluation on Wednesday, Murdorf allegedly made several comments to a nurse about a particular doctor he cared for during a previous hospital stay, police wrote in court documents.

According to court documents, Murdorf threatened to plant a bomb in the doctor’s home if he was hospitalized. He also said he would “hold (the doctor) down and bash her head in,” police wrote in court filings.

The nurse who reported the threats told police she feared Murdorf would carry them out. Murdorf admitted to making the statements, police said.

Murdorf has a criminal record dating back to 1999. According to court records, he is currently serving a year of probation after pleading guilty in August to fraudulent use of the Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program, Pennsylvania’s food stamp program. He was one of dozens of people charged in connection with a SNAP fraud scheme allegedly operated by the owners of the Haitian Caribbean Minimarket in Chambersburg.

The cases of the owners, Marie Registe and Duckens Paul, are still going through the legal system.

Murdorf’s preliminary hearing for his latest case is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 19 in Franklin County Central Court.
