Charges filed alleging threats against postal workers

Nov. 25 – NEOSHO, Mo. – A Joplin man has been charged with making terroristic threats and harassing an employee at the Neosho Post Office, causing the building to close on Nov. 1.

Newton County Prosecutor Will Lynch has filed charges of first-degree harassment and second-degree making a terroristic threat against Zachary Earl Weaver, 39.

According to a probable cause statement, Weaver called a post office employee and said he was going to shoot the person he called and also shoot the post office. After the alleged threats, the post office was closed to everyone except the police. The postal worker reported that the phone had been ringing all morning. Weaver allegedly told the person that he intended to take his own life and that it was the fault of the person he was speaking to.

Judge Jacob R. Skouby issued a warrant for Weaver’s arrest and set bail at $5,000 cash or surety. The judge also ordered that Weaver have no contact with the postal worker.
