CHICAGOChicago police are keeping a close eye on the Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza after an attack on a Christmas market in Germany left at least two people dead and dozens injured, some seriously.

Authorities say no threats have been reported at this time.

“Chicago Police are aware of this incident and continue to monitor it. While there is no actionable information at this time, CPD is paying special attention to Christkindlmarket,” Chicago police said in a statement.

On Friday evening, a car drove through a busy Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing at least two people and injuring at least 68 others, authorities said.

According to reports, 15 of the injured are said to be in critical condition.

The driver in the German attack is in custody and is believed to be from Saudi Arabia, although authorities have not released details on a possible motive.

The Christkindlmarket has two locations: Daley Plaza in Chicago and River Edge Park in Aurora. The last day of the holiday market is December 24.
