CHICAGO (CBS) — A popular vacation destination is drawing Chicago content creators. Chicago’s Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza was just named the most “Instagrammable” holiday market.
Vacation rental site Florida Rentals tracked the number of Instagram posts for various vacation markets in the US. The Chicago market had more than 19,000 posts with the hashtag #christkinlmarketchicago.
Chicago had nearly 7,000 more posts than New York’s Union Square Holiday Market, which came in second.
California’s Cambria Christmas Market took third place with more than 6,000 posts.
The site analyzed Instagram posts for more than 30 of America’s most popular holiday markets.

Enjoy Chicago’s Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St., through December 24.
The market is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Nearly 55 vendors sell their Christmas items to thousands of people at the German Christmas market. A map of the market with available vendors can be found here.
The City of Chicago Christmas Tree in nearby Millennium Park was lit last Friday for the 2024 season. After lighting the trees, people went to the Christmas market.
“It’s just the atmosphere. It’s great. I mean, so many people come out. Everyone’s having a good time here, eating, drinking, shopping.” Andreas Kroschke, from Germany, said. “It’s just a really fun experience.”
