The Kansas City Chiefs canceled team practice Thursday after a player suffered a medical emergency.
Back defensive end BJ Thompson suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest during a special teams meeting on Thursday, according to multiple reports. Thompson was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition.
The team quickly canceled practices and media availability for the day.
“BJ is still unconscious at this time, but he is stable and his vitals are good,” his agent Chris Turnage told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Thursday evening. “His family asks for your continued prayers.”

Thompson was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the NFL Draft last year out of Stephen F. Austin and Baylor. He played in one game last season, mostly on special teams, and made two tackles.
The Chiefs are wrapping up OTA practices this week. The mandatory mini-camp starts on June 11 before the official training camp starts in July.
