Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown undergoes shoulder surgery, placed on IR

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown will undergo surgery on a dislocated sternoclavicular joint in his shoulder and will be placed on the injured list by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Because Brown has been placed on IR, he will be out for at least four games.

The 27-year-old wide receiver did not play in the Chiefs’ Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens and has been out since suffering the injury during the team’s first preseason game in August. Earlier this month, he was given a four- to six-week recovery plan, but after further evaluation, it was determined that surgery would be the best next step as the shoulder was not healing properly.

Brown is not considered ready for the season and the Chiefs will keep a close eye on his progress.

As recently as Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said he wasn’t ruling out a Week 2 return for Brown, but clearly something has changed.
