One child was injured and a driver faces charges Wednesday afternoon after a collision in the town of Erwin involving a school bus and two private vehicles.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on state Route 417 in Erwin, according to Painted Post’s New York State Police.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2018 Dodge driven by Leanna A. Byler, 40, of Addison, was traveling east on Route 417 when it failed to stop for an Addison Central School District bus that was in the westbound lane stopped, state police said.
Byler’s vehicle then struck the rear of an eastbound 2015 Toyota that was stopped in front of the school bus. As a result of the impact, the Toyota struck the side of the school bus, officers said.
A 5-year-old passenger in the Toyota was transported via LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and is in stable condition, according to state police.
In addition to the driver, there were six underage passengers on the school bus. No one else was injured in the crash, police said.

Byler was issued three traffic violations and will answer the charges at a later date in Erwin County Court.
The investigation into the crash continues.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Gang Mills Fire Department, American Medical Response Ambulance, Tuscarora Ambulance, Addison Fire Department, Campbell Fire Department and LifeNet of New York.
