Chili cook-off

The Oakland Lutheran Church will host a chili cook-off and fundraiser at the church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a silent auction, a quarter beef drawing and a lefse sale. Hans the Music Man provides entertainment. Admission is $10 for children 13 and older, $5 for children 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Oakland Lutheran Church. To participate in the cookout, call 507-373-1737 or email oaklandluth@gmail.com. Cash prizes go to the first three places.

Comedy evening with Day Peace

Enjoy an evening of comedy with Day Peace at Events at The Broadway on Saturday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Northern Iowa-based comedian has more than 13 years of experience and it will be an evening full of laughter for everyone in attendance. Wells does it clearly

The community of Wells will hold its annual Wells Does It Bright festival on Friday. There will be cookie decorating, children’s crafts, bounce houses, a craft and vendor fair, a soup supper and more. The Holiday Glow Parade begins at 7:15 PM on the west side of CCF Bank. Old-fashioned Christmas brunch

Everyone is invited to an old-fashioned Christmas brunch at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. It will take place on Saturday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. In addition to brunch, there will be crafts, a treat shop, gift baskets and more. This event is sponsored by First Lutheran Church Women for Local and Global Missions.

Night of dazzle

The Albert Lea Art Center, at 101 S. Broadway, will host a Night of Dazzle on Friday evening to kick off the holiday season. The fundraiser runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and includes hors d’oeuvres, a holiday sweater contest, music, door prizes, a cash bar and tree lighting. The cost is $25 per person.
