Chinese shares end lower, weighed by technology and caution over factory data

Chinese shares closed lower, with the Shanghai Composite Index down 2.7% at 3262.56. The Shenzhen Composite Index closed 2.6% lower at 1907.04 and the ChiNext Price Index fell 3.8%.

Investors took a cautious approach after a private survey of Chinese manufacturing activity showed the sector continued to grow in December, but at a slower pace.

Technology stocks led the declines, with Hygon Information Technology down 7.15%. Beijing Kingsoft Office Software fell 6.9% and iFlyTek ended 4.2% lower.
